Netherlands study guides
Step-by-step help to choose a program, meet requirements, prepare documents, and apply to universities in the Netherlands.
Overview
How to study in the Netherlands
Use this page as your checklist. Follow the steps in order and you’ll avoid the most common delays (missing documents, late deadlines, and unclear program fit).
Step 1: Choose your level
Decide whether you’re applying for a bachelor’s or master’s program. Your requirements, timelines, and document list will differ.
Step 2: Shortlist programs
Pick 3–6 programs based on language of instruction (English/Dutch), entry requirements, tuition, location, and career outcomes.
Step 3: Prepare documents
Collect transcripts, passport, CV, motivation letter, references, and (if required) proof of English. Start early for translations and official copies.
Step 4: Apply and track deadlines
Submit applications before program deadlines and track each school’s portal updates. Some programs fill early, so apply as soon as you’re ready.
