Overview

How to study in the Netherlands

Use this page as your checklist. Follow the steps in order and youโ€™ll avoid the most common delays (missing documents, late deadlines, and unclear program fit).

Step 1: Choose your level

Decide whether youโ€™re applying for a bachelorโ€™s or masterโ€™s program. Your requirements, timelines, and document list will differ.

Step 2: Shortlist programs

Pick 3โ€“6 programs based on language of instruction (English/Dutch), entry requirements, tuition, location, and career outcomes.

Step 3: Prepare documents

Collect transcripts, passport, CV, motivation letter, references, and (if required) proof of English. Start early for translations and official copies.

Step 4: Apply and track deadlines

Submit applications before program deadlines and track each schoolโ€™s portal updates. Some programs fill early, so apply as soon as youโ€™re ready.
